SYNTAXICAL RECONFIGURATION IN HERTA MÜLLER’S TEXTS TRANSLATED INTO ROMANIAN

Summary/Abstract: The syntax of the phrase allows for a wide range of stylistic possibilities by positioning both grammatical elements and the phrase as a whole in the context of Herta Müller’s work. Analyzing the weight of the translations compared to the original, it can be seen that the phrase written in German by the writer has an exact, well-defined profile, built in a rigorous spirit. Herta Müller’s phrase is both short and condensed. We rarely find more than two or three sentences, and these have at most one or two secondary sentence parts. There is a tendency to condense, to synthetically express a lot of meanings, to say as much as possible in few words. However, the Romanian translations are varied, some respect the topic and the German syntax, others stand out for inversions, dislocations or even new paragraphs and sentences separated from the syntactic block.
