Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the rise of the Romanian Communist Party in Mureș County after World War II. It utilises archival sources, local press, and specialized works to examine how the Romanian Communist Party capitalized on post-WWII instability to expand its influence in Mureș County. The Party faced challenges like low ideological receptivity and limited resources but overcame them through strategic actions. These included installing left-wing officials, purging opponents, promising social equality, and utilizing propaganda. The Party's success is attributed to both the favorable political context and its effective strategies. However, the numerical growth may be inflated by opportunism or fear, highlighting the need for critical analysis of communist data. This work contributes to the understanding of communist history, party establishment, and propaganda techniques.
