Democratic tendencies in political history of Medieval Rus': political systems, institutes and groups

Summary/Abstract: The making and functioning of the democratic political systems in Rus' passed according to the European historical process. The European democratic tradition and, particularly, the Hanseatic trade league of cities had a great influence on the making of the republic tradition in Novgorod and Pskov. As to the development of democracy in medieval European states and in Rus', a relative depression of this process is mentioned in comparison with the progression of the democracy in antiquity.
