Taxonomy and application of Hellwig’s method for assessing the effectiveness of investment funds

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the study to determine the attractiveness of investment funds with their effectiveness measures. It uses Hellwig’s method which is also called the method of capacity of indicators information. There have been attempts to verify the usefulness of this method against standard methods in the selection of specific variables to assess the investment funds. After that the rank for funds has been given using taxonomic methods. The study selects the results of measurement that describes the investment funds for the period 2009- -2012. That period was the time of the first wave of the global financial crisis, which has also had an impact on the financial market in Poland.
