Summary/Abstract: Smart grids represent a new generation of electrical systems that use digital technologies to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of energy supply. They enable the integration of renewable energy sources, bidirectional communication between producers and consumers, and active load management, optimizing energy consumption in real time. Automation and realtime monitoring provide companies with detailed insights into their energy needs and allow them to adjust consumption, especially during periods of high electricity prices or grid overloads. Additionally, smart grids enable companies to actively participate in the sustainable energy transition by integrating circular practices and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Thanks to automatic fault detection and resolution, smart grids reduce the risk of power outages, which is crucial for the uninterrupted operation of industries that rely on a constant energy supply. The implementation of these grids also presents challenges, such as high initial costs, the need for infrastructure adjustments, and addressing cybersecurity issues. However, their adoption offers significant benefits in reducing carbon footprints and improving sustainable business models.
