Using the methodology of bibliometric studies and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol, the purpose of the investigation is to analyse the scientific production in the field of artificial intelligence’s applications in higher education. The paper is an overview of the main discussions and trends reflected in articles published between 1989 and November 2023 and indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection.
