Summary/Abstract: The article presents observations regarding the development of interest in family archives in Poland and the creation of the “Family Archives. Become a Family Archivist” project. One of the breakthrough moments that can be considered is the adoption of the Act on the National Archival Resources and Archives in 1983 and the institution of non-state archival resources introduced therein. However, the lack of an appropriate legal framework that would regulate cooperation between state archives and the non-public sector is also significant. The activities of social archives, including the KARTA Center Foundation, are also important for the issue discussed. It should also be noted that there is a growing interest in personal and family documentation resulting from the search for employment certificates and the popularization of genealogy. The increased interest in family archives has led to the establishment of consultation points in state archives and the organization of the “Become a Family Archivist” campaign. The Section of Family Archivists within the Association of Polish Archivist0s was also established.
