Summary/Abstract: Historically, leadership has been developing for centuries. Since antiquity, the position of the leader in public life has been considered, which inevitably reflects in the various philosophies of education. Great historical figures and philosophers formed concepts and theories about leadership, which has an impact on all of humanity. All these factors characterize the image of a leader and the qualities that he needs to have. The present study aims to create a snapshot picture of the presence of different components for the manifestation of leadership qualities among students in grades 1-4. The task is to summarize how the stages of development of the leader-student develop, through the transition from an individual, to a person, and from there to a leader. The survey included 4th grade students from different educational institutions, which are located in different characteristics. Through the constructed questionnaire, different levels of development of the virtues, inner strengths and qualities of students, which are formative components of leadership competence, are established. As a result of the consultation, it was established that students from the primary stage of primary education have a good level of development of virtues in themselves. This is the first step towards the formation of effective leadership skills. It is necessary to focus methodological approaches not only on achieving educational goals, which respectively support the possession of virtues, but also to create such practices that will further develop the inner strength and leadership qualities of students in grades 1-4.
