Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the potential of the library resource for the development of sustainable tourism. Modern tools for the promotion of cultural heritage in the function of sustainable development of the tourist offer offer libraries conditions for the economic and social well-being of the local and wider community. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Cultural heritage is that which has been inherited from past generations, which is maintained in the present and which will be given for the benefit of future generations. Libraries are among the most important institutions for preserving the cultural heritage of a community. After introducing new practices based on world principles, libraries take their share of responsibility and also support the positive aspects of society‘s development. Cultural tourism acts to promote and protect cultural heritage, but also through its not-for-profit and sustainable development concept enables the restoration, preservation and better protection of cultural sites.
