Summary/Abstract: In the Republic of Moldova, the act of manipulating an event constitutes a crime and is punished according to the Criminal Code. The liability is aggravated if the offense in question is committed by a coach, an agent of the athlete, a member of the jury, a sports club owner or a person who is a member of the management of a sports organization. People who have one of these special qualities are generically considered „officials”. These people could easily manipulate a sporting or other event that offers betting opportunities. In this study, the particularities of the aggravation of criminal liability for committing the act of manipulating an event are analyzed.
