As municipal administrations endeavour to enhance the quality of life for their residents through the application of digital solutions, the incorporation of smart city strategies has emerged as a pivotal focus in urban development. Researchers have explored this subject from various perspectives, publishing case studies showcasing successful practices in cities in recent times. This study seeks to illustrate how Romanian cities have integrated the smart city framework into their strategic planning, while also addressing the challenges they have encountered. Furthermore, it will highlight the benefits of implementing this concept and shed light on several drawbacks that may serve as opportunities for future improvement.
