Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is the study of grammatical terminology in the works of Walenty Skorochód Majewski (1764–1835). Majewski was a pioneering Polish linguist and historian, deeply interested in the origins of Slavic culture. The paper discusses his engagement with Sanskrit grammar and the challenges he faced in adapting and understanding its terminology. It traces the influence of Latin and German linguistic traditions on his descriptions of Sanskrit grammar and highlights his contributions to early comparative linguistics. The study also examines how Majewski’s terminology evolved and assesses his impact on later linguistic research.
