Summary/Abstract: The author of this paper discusses the results achieved in Hungary in the field of digital equity, analyzing new possibilities of reducing the digital divide and dealing with the problems of traditional social exclusion in the information society. She describes and critically discusses several state projects of the given period, focussing on the strategies of encourageing and improving the use of the internet. She comes to the conclusion that the sophisticated goal-setting of the projects had been, in principle, appropriate but the actual implementation of them was far from satisfactory.
