Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the comparison of selected aspects of the work of streetworker and those of the work of the Polish court custodian. Both the streetworker and the custodian (each from a different perspective: the NGO’s and the court custody service’s ones respectively) tries to reach and influence the life of the high risk or socially maladapted groups. The nature of their work, carried out in the community of service beneficiaries, is also similar. In subsequent parts of the paper, the author discusses the similarities and differences in, among all, formal legal regulations, target groups, tasks, work methods, skills and aptitudes of the streetworker and the court custodian. The aim of the author is to point to some common areas which require a more detailed comparative analysis and a more in-depth and multidimensional interpretation.
