Summary/Abstract: The paper is based on personal experience of the author, the court custodian working in the rural area, and is illustrated with the description of selected cases. It discusses the difficulties which may be underestimated when looked at from the perspective of larger locations and which are encountered by the court custodian working in the setting which provides a rather modest offer of assistance to minors and no help or cooperation from assistance and socialization institution to the benefit of the individual under custody. The author focuses on the dynamics of the work of the custodian for minors and on obstacles which may arise in their daily work and which, as determinants of the success or failure of such actions, are co-decisive for the lives of those involved in the process: the individuals and their families.
