Celebration of the 800th anniversary of Gorodets Volzhskiy in 1952: historiographical background.

Summary/Abstract: The author of the article gives the historiographical review of the work in which was discussed the date of the city foundation, so the question of the anniversary celebration in 1952 validity became actual. He comes to the conclusion that the celebration undoubtedly benefited for historical science, because it attracted attention of historians to the question about the city appearance.
