Summary/Abstract: This article provides a comparative analysis of Ukrainian and Polish literary terms based on their definitions in lexicographical sources. The author points out that the similarity of the two languages (Ukrainian and Polish) plays an ambivalent role when using literary terminology, both facilitating and complicating the process. Difficulties arise when students are confronted with interlingual homonymy, i.e., identical or similar terms that have different meanings in the two respective national languages and denote concepts that are not identical. In order to find the appropriate equivalents, a comparison of the most frequently used literary terms that cause difficulties and misunderstandings among Ukrainian students of Polish studies was made.
