Summary/Abstract: In order for the building material to be as acceptable as possible, it is necessary to improve its quality, make it easier to install, and have a longer service life, all of which ultimately leads to greater economy of building constructions. Ordinary concrete could not meet the aforementioned characteristics. For this reason, certain researches were initiated with the aim of improving the characteristics of construction materials in order to obtain new and better materials that are ready to meet the challenges of the market. It is self-compacting concrete, an innovative type of concrete that, by flowing without the use of vibration devices, completely bypasses the reinforcement and fills the formwork. Its biggest advantages are: improved fluidity, good resistance to segregation of components during flow, high strength in the hardened state, easier installation and increased durability. It is clear that due to the aforementioned characteristics, this type of concrete is extremely important and widespread. Today, self-compacting concretes have become indispensable concretes in the construction of reinforced concrete structures when high durability is required or installation is difficult.
