Summary/Abstract: The policy of introducing and applying gender equality, as well as the use of gender – sensitive language, has recently assumed an increasing importance and role in all spheres of social and public life on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a country striving for equal membership in the European Union, it is necessary to harmonize internal policies and attitudes with the policies and attitudes of the European Union. One of the main policies refers to the application of gender equalitty in all spheres of social and public life, and the full use of gender – sensitive language in everyday speech and writing. The encouraging fact is that competent institutions and organizations are increasingly dealing with this issue, which will certainly contribute to improving the current situation. The aim of this paper is to clarify the basic concepts concerning this matter and clarify the legal regulations governing it. In the paper, the author also provides a current overview of the situation with a special focus on discrimination that occurs in relation to labor law, that is employment conditions and education.
