Summary/Abstract: SERSCIDA (Support for Establishment of National / Regional Social Sciences Data Archives) is a strategic project (started in february 2012) for supporting the cooperation and exchange of knowledge between the EU countries associated within the Council of European Social Sciences Data Archives (CESSDA) and the Western Balkan Countries (i.e. Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia) in the field of social science data archiving. SERSCIDA project is lead by the Human Rights Centre of University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in partnership with the Swiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences, the UK Data Archives of the University of Essex (United Kingdom), Swedish National Data Service of the University of Goteborg, the Social Science Data Archives, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences University of Zagreb (Croatia) and the Institute of Economic Sciences, Belgrade (Serbia). The four main objectives of SERSCIDA are to support the establishment of social science data archives, to identify potentials and infrastructures for establishment of social science data archives in WB countries involved, to enhance the exchange of knowledge and sharing of data collected through research in social sciences in the WB countries and EU – CESSDA countries and to increase the level of understanding and support for open access policies through involvement of policy and decision makers in WB countries.
