Summary/Abstract: From 1917 to 1934, the Russian Museum was home to many scholars of various disciplines, including art history, ethnography, history, and archaeology. Most of these individuals received their education at St. Petersburg (Petrograd / Leningrad) University. Therefore, it is essential to explore the interrelationship between these institutions, particularly regarding the university’s role in training specialists who contributed to the Russian Museum. This study aims to address this gap in research, as it is the first of its kind on this topic. The objectives of this work include analyzing scientific interests, numbers, and composition of those members of the Russian Museum staff from 1917 to 1934 who were educated at Saint Petersburg / Petrograd / Leningrad University. Utilizing the database entitled “Biografika SPbGU” (Biographic Corpus of Saint Petersburg State University) and ongoing projects in which the author has participated, a selection of specialists who graduated from the university was compiled, which included those whose scholarly activities were related to historical sciences and/or who held part-time positions at the university during this period. The findings reveal the total number of university history graduates employed at the Russian Museum between 1917 and 1934, the proportion of women within the museum staff, the average age of the staff members, and their primary research interests.
