Summary/Abstract: For Ukrainians, decolonization is not just a return to their roots but a necessary fight for survival. This process involves confronting painful yet straightforward issues, learning from the experiences of Central European countries, and understanding the complexities of their own situation. The aggressive stance of Moscow, which continues to promote its narratives and cultural dominance, complicates Ukraine's efforts to establish its own identity. The struggle is not merely about creating a new narrative but also about defending it against a persistent imperial force. The harsh reality is that Ukrainians are deprived of the luxury of peaceful coexistence with their former metropolis, making their decolonization efforts a matter of life and death. The experiences of other nations serve as a reminder that even after gaining independence, the threats of corruption, economic dependence, and cultural challenges remain.
