Summary/Abstract: Effective external and internal communication are key to successful business. Internal communication enables quality relations between employees and their superiors. This contributes to greater employee satisfaction and the achievement of the company goals. Companies need to effectively organize formal communication channels and take advantages of informal channels. The paper explores informal business communication with a focus on a special type of informal communication, known as “grapevine communication”. Two hypotheses are set up in the paper, where the first (i) investigates the problem of spreading information through the informal channel of grapevine communication due to untimely and insufficient distribution of information by the management, whereas the second (ii) explores the possibility of management structures in controlling grapevine communication. The results of the research on the organizational climate in the selected company were analyzed for the purposes of this paper, based on which it was sought to explore the satisfaction of employees working in that company, the use of informal communication channels, the problem of informal business grapevine communication, and the possibilities and ways of effective management of the grapevine communication.
