Summary/Abstract: This article stems from the consensual moral reaction aroused by the suffering child, aiming at enlightening its origins, meaning and scope. For this purpose, our hypothesis is that the analysis of literary works constitutes a valuable tool for philosophy. By studying the legacy of Ivan’s discourse in The Brothers Karamazov, we’d thus like to show how literature may help us to make sense of a certain experience of evil.
