Summary/Abstract: By investigating the Chinese learning motivation of BA and MA students in the Chinese Department of Eötvös Loránd University, this study explores the main characteristics of learners at the language level, learner level and learning context level, as well as the similarities and differences in learning motivation among learners of Chinese at different proficiency levels, and discusses how to stimulate and maintain learners’ learning motivation to ensure the sustainable and vigorous development of Chinese teaching in Hungary.
