The statute of Vojvodina - more than Autonomy, Less than independence

Summary/Abstract: By reminding the reader of the phrase “More than autonomy, less than independence”, which is a succinct form of the Serbian proposal to solve the problem of the status of Kosovo, the author points to the fact that the draft Statute of Vojvodina introduces solutions which are, in terms of logic and legal theory, mere nonsense and anomaly and are in fact some NSPM / Posebno izdanje /2/ 2008. USTAV I ISKUŠENJA 146 kind of “semi-constitution” of a hypothetical “semi-state” of Vojvodina. The author thinks that the provisions in this document will be an extra stimulus to create the so-called Vojvodina identity and reminds us that the process of creating an identity is most often irreversible. He thus makes a parallel with a similar process which took place in Montenegro, where the tendency of turning the local (geographical) identity into national identity and the processes if instituonalizing statehood happened at the same time.
