Summary/Abstract: The 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Poles in Germany, which falls in2022, inspires in-depth research into the forms of activity significant for the Polish minority inGermany and the organization during the interwar period. This article analyzes the importance oflegal aspects for the activities of the Association of Poles in Germany between 1922 and 1939,both for its functioning and its role in protecting the rights of the Polish minority in Germany.From this perspective, the article presents the figure of Dr. Brunon Openkowski, the lawyer forthe Association of Poles in Germany – a steadfast advocate for the rights of the Polish minority inGermany, who deserves to be remembered and recorded.
