Summary/Abstract: An important figure in the history of agricultural sciences in the secondhalf of the 19th and early 20th centuries was Tomasz Rylski (1838–1924) – scientist,teacher, founder of the first experimental station of agricultural machines and toolsin Ukraine. Through his own activities, the scientist made an invaluable contribution tothe development of the field of agricultural research. His basic scientific interests included:agricultural construction, mechanics of arable land, research on agricultural machines,and construction of agricultural equipment. The analysis of Rylski creative achievementsconfirms that he is the author of many scientific studies that were developed in the workof other scientists and found application in domestic agricultural science. His scientificand creative achievements are diverse, which makes him an outstanding Ukrainian scientistin the field of agriculture. Despite his Polish origin, he spent his entire life and creativeactivity in Ukraine, contributing to the establishment of the Higher Agricultural Schoolin Dublany as a powerful educational and scientific center. The study and analysis of the lifepath and creative achievements of Professor Rylski, the study of his scientific achievements,the determination of the place and role of the scientist in shaping agricultural sciencesthrough the prism of historical and socio-cultural conditions in the context of that eraare based on the principles of objectivity, systematics, impartiality and historicism.A special place in the implementation of this study was given to problem, chronologicaland comparative research methods.
