Summary/Abstract: The natural gas reserves discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean in recent years have changed the geopolitical balances in the region and led to new tensions in Turkish-Greek relations. While countries such as Greece, the Greek Cypriot Administration, Israel and Egypt have formed various alliances to share energy resources and transfer them to Europe, Turkey argues that attempts are being made to exclude it from this process. While Ankara demands an equitable sharing of the continental shelf and exclusive economic zone (EEZ) borders, Athens states that it defends its own rights based on international law. This situation occasionally leads to military and diplomatic crises between the parties. While energy discoveries in the region further complicate bilateral relations between Turkey and Greece, the involvement of external actors such as the EU and the US in the process complicates the search for diplomatic solutions. However, in the long term, it is seen as an inevitable necessity for the parties to turn to negotiation and cooperation in order to mutually benefit from energy resources.
