Summary/Abstract: The present article proposed to make an introduction to the hermeneutics of the phenomenon of the death of God (theothanatology) and the way in which this topic was interpreted in the space of Judeo-Christian thought. This theme was discussed in a more meaningful way with the 19th century and resumed after the Second World War especially in the United States of America but also in the area of Western Europe, being perceived first as a cultural phenomenon in the wider framework of a new model of secularism, vector of a new type of religiosity. The article explores the origins, influence and possible interpretations of this kind of radical theology.
