Summary/Abstract: The novelty of the study is determined by the fact that the phenomenon of commemoration, while remaining a subject of philosophy, sociology, anthropology, has not been practically considered from the point of view of linguistics. At the same time, it is the linguistic analysis of commemorative texts that allows us to identify their structural features at different levels of the text, which explains the relevance of the study. The aim of the study is to examine socio-ritual oral public speech as a verbal part of commemorative ritual. The hypothesis of the work is that socio-ritual oral public speech as a part of commemorative ritual verbalizes the parameters specific for socio-ritual speech in general: connection with the formal occasion, which eventually determines the content and form of the speech, repetition, almost complete absence of new information, and emotionality. The research objectives were to trace parameters typical for oral monological socio-ritual texts in commemorative socio-ritual speech, and identify the means of their verbalization at the level of text composition, lexicon, and syntax. The material for the study was comprised a corpus of speeches of the Chairman of the German Parliament on the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism, which represent an integral part of the German commemorative tradition. Using the method of content analysis of empirical material, the author demonstrates the characteristic features of socio-ritual oral monologic public speeches as a part of commemorative rituals, focusing on the content components mandatory for this type of texts: representation of the traditionally accepted interpretation of historical events, elements that support cohesion in society on the basis of the common axiological basis and contribute to the further preservation of commemorative tradition, and connection of historical experience with modernity. The findings confirm the hypothesis of the study and suggest that parameters characteristic of oral monological socio-ritual texts are clearly traceable in public speeches representing the verbal part of commemorative ritual.
