Summary/Abstract: In the constantly changing world, there is a requirement of a common framework for recognition and certification of the competences acquired at work place through formal or informal learning. In this paper we deal with presenting the national framework of recognition of prior learning in six European countries, referring to opportunities provided to individuals to assess and validate their learning results and competences acquired through work, on par with formal training and education. By underlying the importance of lifelong learning this work contributes at the European common effort to improve accessibility, quality and efficiency of lifelong learning.
