Summary/Abstract: The paper scrutinize the issue of legal models of the relationship between the state and the church, analyzing their application in some countries of Europe and the former Yugoslavia, in order to show similarities and differences in their application. Regulating the relationship between the state and the church is of great importance for the realization of religious freedom, which are guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international legal acts.
