Summary/Abstract: Digital transformation (DT) is one of the key priorities for the EU. Researchers point out that successful digital transformation requires the engagement of motivated employees, and that the human factor is more important than the technology itself. People-driven approach to DT is emphasized also by the OECD. The research is aimed at identification of factors affecting staff perception of digital transformation in higher education institutions. The current paper reflects the results of the piloting stage of the study among academic staff members representing EKA University of Applied Sciences and Novikontas Maritime College. Participants took part in two parallel activities: 1) survey using a questionnaire based on the “Change Resistance Scale”, and 2) assessment of psychological and mental capabilities and limitations. The second research activity was performed using CleverPoint software. The assessment was based on the analysis of users’ psychological responses and cognitive functions through the obtained bio-signals during the VR session. The relationship between respondents’ executive functions and workability versus individual values of the Change resistance factor was explored. This is a unique cross-disciplinary research combining traditional research procedures in social sciences and psychometric experiment.
