Summary/Abstract: The present work brings into discussion the Romanian peasant, during a critical period for his own life. It is well-known that Romanian literature approached different topics of the peasants and the land. For the traditional peasant, the land signifies not only a way of living, but his entire existence. In order to analyze the nature of the human being after the World War II, I chose two characters which I believe they went through the same challenges of the communist regime. As we all knew, the socialist regime wanted the collectivization of farms after the end of the war. For the peasant, those new rules meant the loss of his own land, but most of all the loss of hope. Ilie Moromete from the novel Moromeții and Năiță Lucean from the novel Niște țărani are two strongs humankinds. They fought against the Security only to keep their lands untouched and to prove that their existence wasn’t in vain. Among all characters with this topic, I find essential how the 355omanian human nature feels to start a fight against those people who underestimate the intellect of peasants.
