Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the questionof cooperation between TranscarpathianRus’ and Galician Rus’ in the decliningperiod of the Spring of Nations. It polem-icises with the thesis of Paul R. Magocsi,who, in his publications, considered thememorandum of 13 October 1849, submit-ted to Emperor Franz Joseph I and the Vien-nese government, as the fi rst political pro-gramme of the Carpatho-Rusyns. Accordingto Magocsi, this programme involved theresignation of the Carpathian Rusyns froma common crown state consisting of theTransca rpathian and Galician Rus’. The arti-cle quotes excerpts from the October mem-orandum that contradict Magocsi’s thesis.
