Summary/Abstract: The study examines the development of the ethnology of the Bulgarian dress, which has rich traditions, as well as undisputed perspectives. The purpose of the exposition is, not so much to inform, but to summarize the level of the studies in Bulgaria, in one more common humanitarian context. It is a theme separation, the contributions of separate researchers and the unexplored zones. Imposing is the conclusion that despite of the different approaches, from which the Bulgarian folk dress is examined, despite of the existing, different level of literature on the problem, the building traditions in the ethnology of the dress in Bulgaria, develops fruitfully. The value of the dress as a cultural fact opens up a wide range for its research in traditional, as well as in contemporary aspect; in relation to the national culture, as well as in multicultural interconnections – fact, which should also draw the attention of young researchers.
