Summary/Abstract: The distinction between general vocabulary and specialized vocabulary is frequently addressed in contemporary terminology. The purpose of this study is to review the main features of the language of botany, which is characterized by a varied lexicon. We have attempted to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of botanical terminology, especially considering that the designation of concepts is achieved not only through hermetic terms, but also by means of words from the general vocabulary. The conclusion drawn is that the language of botany distinguishes itself, compared to other scientific fields, by the phenomenon of duplicating—even triplicating—the scientific term with botanical lexical elements.
