Summary/Abstract: During the working session of October 28-29, 2016, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church evaluated the participation of its delegation in the Holy and Great Council of Crete, in June 2016. The Synod highlighted the liturgical character and Eucharistic communion of the works, emphasizing the importance of Orthodox unity. The adopted documents did not introduce new dogmas, but reaffirmed the Orthodox tradition and addressed contemporary challenges, including secularization, inter-Christian dialogue, the ecological crisis and the Church's relations with the world. The message of the Synod emphasizes the importance of confessing the Orthodox faith and reaffirms Orthodoxy as the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. In addition, the Synod discussed the need to renew the Church's mission, appealing to solidarity, moral responsibility and active involvement in the life of society. The adopted documents promote an open dialogue with other Christian confessions and religions, without dogmatic compromises. The Council of Crete represents a significant moment in Orthodoxy, directing the Church towards an active and responsible mission in the face of the challenges of an increasingly secularized world.
