Summary/Abstract: In the last few decades, a significant amount of research has been conducted that has studied the relationship between psychological contract and employee satisfaction in the organizational context. However, research within the educational context in this area is still in short supply. There are many negative effects that student dissatisfaction can have on the study experience and the global assessment of society on the quality of service provided by the education system. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between the perceived violation of the psychological contract of students at the University of Sarajevo and their satisfaction with their studies. 420 students (339 women and 81 men) participated in the research. The average age of the respondents is 22.7 years. The results indicate a statistically significant negative association between psychological contract violation and study satisfaction (r = -0.79; p = 0.000). The paper also examines the relationship between individual socio-demographic characteristics of students and the perceived level of violation of their psychological contract. The results indicate that there is a statistically significant difference in the perceived violation of the psychological contract with regard to the study status in the way that students studying under higher financial burden (self-financing and part-time) estimate the violation of psychological contract higher than students studying under lower financial burden ( regular) (F (1) = 8.337; p = 0.004). The paper also mentions some implications of the findings obtained with special emphasis on the importance of building a positive psychological contract in the educational context and adequate management of student satisfaction determinants in the function of shaping a positive study experience and retaining students.
