Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present metacognitive model of obsessive compulsive disorder, structure of treatment according to the principles of metacognitive therapy and offer overview of the basic techniques in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder. According to the metacognitive model central role in formation and maintenance of obsessive compulsive disorder have metacognitive beliefs about meaning and importance of intrusion and/or feelings and metacognitive beliefs on the need for ritual. Metacognitive therapy focuses on more adequate answers to obsessive thoughts and abandoning maladaptive coping strategies such as mind control, neutralizing and ritual behavior. Metacognitive techniques applied in treatment of OCD are detached mindfulness, delay rituals technique and metacognitive exposure to prevention responses. Standard methods of cognitive behavioral therapy are Socratic dialogue and behavioral experiment.In the first phase of treatment we work on case conceptualization and understanding of the problem according to the metacognitive model, and in the second phase, the client with constant training establish a new relationship with obsessive thoughts. In the third, final phase we are try to establish new plan for processing and work on the prevention of recurrence of symptoms. The treatment consists of tensessions. The results of research on the recovery rate and the effects after treatment of OCD indicate advantage metacognitive models treatment over conventional CBT treatment and shortening duration of total treatment.
