Summary/Abstract: The folk melody reflects in the most penetrating and direct manner the spirituality and the artistic genius of a nation, this type of melody is one source of inspiration for the symphonic creation of the 20th century. From the evolution of Romanian music, one can deduce the fact that our music school background relies on the folk melody. The expressive power of the music results from mixing the lyric with the melody, this type of mixing being characteristic from one area to another, which together have travelled space and time, defining for sure the place where they were originated. A second source of inspiration for the creations of the Romanian and European music composers of the 20th century is religious music. Because of the historical and different socialcultural events in which the byzantine religious music had evolved, type of music especially adopted by south-eastern nations, because of the several heterogeneous influences and because of the influence of native folk music, influences that were exercised upon this type of music, because of some reformers with different musical concepts, by word of mouth exposure during centuries, because of so many notation system deficiencies as well as psychological determinatives that induced it a certain physiognomy, this byzantine religious music was not only adopted but was also adapted by several nations, suitable to their specific thought of music. This way the music got a new dimension and a new expression, a peculiar individuality, original and personal to the nations that adopted it. The statistics from the end of this study follow the establishment of the creative path from the Banat region, shown from the perspective of European and Romanian musical creation. The course of musical formation determined the need of the composers to appeal the ethnical spring, and the paths opened by this, either in the area of a single genre or exploring a single creation pattern, led to a natural evolution, touched only by a small number of figures from the Banat region. The stated wish of Banat composers committed in defining a peculiar music was achieved by Sabin Dragoi, Nicolae Ursu, Zeno Vancea, Remus Georgescu’s contribution.
