WEB Art: Mew Modes of Creation and Perception of the Work

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to put into consideration how the recipient of the computer art becomes a co-author at creating interactive works. The authors of web-art, sensitive to the changes of the present postmodern days, consider it necessary to attract the recipient as an active participant in their performances. Their creations come to life the moment the recipient activates them or they are changed according to his/her reaction. What is more, the new artistic techniques give the recipients the opportunity to try their hands at creating works of art themselves. Some examples of art completely produced by the means of computers and exposed on-line will be provided in order to illustrate this thesis. They represent fractal images and Conway's “Game of Life”.
