Summary/Abstract: The article reports on a study visit paid by a group of Polish librarians to libraries in German regions of Thuringia and Saxony which took place in 7 - 11 June 2010. The aim of the visit was to observe daily activities of the libraries in these two regions of Germany. Thanks to the use of new media and information technology the libraries have become modern multimedia centres. The visit was a good opportunity to discuss with German librarians issues connected with reading promotion, library buildings modernization and multimedia centre management.
