Summary/Abstract: Nowadays more and more regions in the European Union develop and then imple¬ment strategic documents relating to the development of innovative economy, which regional innovation strategies are. The article shows the essence of regional innovation strategy and the experience of the Spanish region of Castilla-Leon in the implementation of this docu¬ment. It also presents the characteristics of the region of Castilla-Leon and general aims of the regional innovation strategy developed for this region and describes the changes which occurred in the region during the implementation of the strategy.
