Summary/Abstract: Review of a book dedicated to the subject of the library described and analyzed in cultural and social context. The author states that there are two major components that constitute the library: tangible and intangible. The first one are obvious material and functional factors such as books, the organizational structure, the management style of the institution and the staff. The latter one is the cultural superstructure, the so-called spirit, the aura of the library which has developed and evolved to build its image and identity.
