Summary/Abstract: The information competency/literacy is a systematic body of knowledge, skills, habits and capacity for innovative solutions that ensure information activities – individual and collective – to satisfy the information needs. It is not a personal choice. It’s a comprehensive process that affects both consumers and producers of information, and knowledge intermediaries who in turn also create information products. Grown user needs require high information culture. Publishers, librarians and information brokers need high information competency in order to provide necessary information/ knowledge and to enhance their consumer information competency.
