Summary/Abstract: The article presented below is an attempt to analyze one of the first theatrical performances recorded by historians. Of course that seen from a religious perspective the above statement could easily pass as a blasphemy, but fortunately the gods and myths that we came across in our research are long since bygone therefore we can venture into assuming that the sacred holiday of Akitu – the Babylonian new year, was nothing but a twelve day street performance into which the public was drawn to participate without them being aware that they are putting the basis of what we call today : street theater.
