Summary/Abstract: Thanatopolitics deals with the political use of death. The article discusses the significance of the death of persons, who had been an embodiment of the value for society. Certain historical thanatopolitical patterns have been shown: ritualized practice of memories of the dead in the Antiquity and various medieval uses of immortality and non-mortality. Special attention was paid to Christocentric monarchist legitimacy, based on the construction of im-mortality of the crown. At present, dignitas of the church has been considered immortal, but equally indestructible as the blood of the dynasty. The death has also been used to confirm the civil authorities. It has been concluded that the use of chronically undefined and basically incomprehensible condition after the cessation of life has never been deprived of rational calculation in politics, church and state alike.
