Summary/Abstract: The author’s intention, in considering the social nature of a specific subject, the society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to provide answers to the question of the country’s future and that of its society. The principal aim of this study is to determine whether there are constants in the development of the society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which in turn should reveal what it is that defines people’s lives in this part of the world and enables them to preserve their society and the state. This clearly requires a synthetic approach, especially since there are not many such or similar sociological studies, and those that are available mostly deal only with certain segments of the society of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the light of this, and the complexity of the study, a combined theoretical approach was required, encompassing both classic and modern theoretical perspectives. To achieve the intended objective, it was necessary to study historical sources and, as far as possible, to base the structure of the paper on the positive experiences of both social theories and historiography, which is fairly well developed in this country.
